My friend Alex Sasin drove a pickup truck that was recently provided to his team by “Ed’s Friends” and Ukrainian Action, to the Donbas in eastern Ukraine, on a humanitarian mission.
Traveling through Sloviansk, a war torn and devastated city, Alex and his team met two brave Ukrainian boys, 11 and 7 years old.
The team gave the kids some water, a little money and some sweets. Alex asked them, “what will you do when Russians come?” The boys answered, “we stay in the basement.”
When asked, “were you scared?” The kids replied, “only for the first explosion.”
When asked if they want to be evacuated, the boys immediately answered, “no, we don’t want to leave our country.”
